Understanding Community Volunteer Positions
Community Volunteer Positions will be categorized into 6 different departments that will help support all volunteers and members. The six departments: Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) - commonly referred to as "program"; Recruitment & Retention - commonly referred to as "membership"; Intake, Learning & Support - commonly referred to as "volunteer services"; Product Sales; Community Relations - commonly referred to as "communications"; and Fund Development - also referred to as "philanthropy". Each department has a direct link to the council representative handling that field without needing to go through a membership specialist first.
In the previous model, each service unit had one council contact - their membership specialist. Each membership specialist handled multiple service units. Under the new model, each council member in charge of any one topic area has 4 contacts - the community counterparts. The community volunteers will then relay the information directly to the service unit contacts. It will become easier to understand as we transition to the new model.
