On Sunday, October 6 from 2 to 4 p.m., Girl Scouts of Colonial Coast, along with WAVY-TV 10, FOX43 and TidewaterParent.com, will be hosting Girls Who Read Lead, a hands-on literacy event, at the Meyera E. Oberndorf Central Library in Virginia Beach. Special guests will include WAVY-TV Anchor Cheryl Tan, Virginian-Pilot Reporter Kathy Adams and author Sharon Cindrich. Additional Girls Who Read Lead events are listed below.
Members of the community are invited to learn about Girl Scouts and be entertained by special community partner guests, young authors and storytellers. This event is an opportunity to find out more about Girl Scouting and register to become a member of the premiere organization for girls, as well as to help girls understand the importance—and fun—of reading, writing and communicating.
Current members of Girl Scouts who wear their uniform or Girl Scout T-shirt and bring a friend who registers to be a member will receive a free gift.
